The Gippsland Lakes has been a fisherman’s mecca for a very long time. With access to such a vast area, the choice is yours – from secluded river banks to a relaxing day on a boat on either lake King, Lake Victoria or beyond. Try for bream, the most prolific fish or for the favourite of many fishermen – the flathead. Other fish to test your skills are whiting, luderick and trevally. Make a day of it out to the Grange with a short stroll over the dunes to try some surf fishing on 90 Mile Beach. Salmon, tailor and gummy shark are the most likely catch on the ocean side.
